Bio

Tim Rone Villanueva is a Filipino writer, director, and producer based from Kawit, Cavite, Philippines. He graduated with honors for Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Filmmaking at De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde, School Of Design and Arts - Benilde Film. He established an independent production firm -- TV Films, which produced short films such as “Palacio De San Rodrigo” (Jocelyn Frago and Mika Quizon, 2018) - 2019 Chicago CineYouth Film Festival Official Selection and “Alex & Aki” (Dexter Paul De Jesus, 2019) - 2019 CineSpectra Short Film Festival Official Selection. He is a founding member and partner of Cinema Centenario Inc. (Quezon City). He presently works as film programmer, creative and segment producer, and Chief Content Officer to Online Film Lab for Regional Stories and Quarantimes: Short Films from the Region, a program of North Luzon Cinema Guild Inc. Also, he is a founding member of the Regional Filmmakers Network - Luzon Caucus.

His first short film, “Santa Nena!” (2017) won several accolades in different film competitions; Gold Prize for the Viddsee Juree Awards Philippines in 2019, Best Short Film for the CineFilipino Film Festival in 2018, and Honorable Mention for the 29th Gawad CCP for Alternative Films and Video in 2017 among others and had been selected in the 3rd Slemani International Film Festival (Iraq), 2018 Alpavirama: Asian Short and Documentary Film Festival (India), 2018 California International Film Festival and Davis Chinese Film Festival (USA), and 2017 Salamindanaw Asian Film Festival (Davao) to name a few. A feature length version of this short film is now under development.

His second short film, “Paano Bihisan Ang Isang Ina?” (How To Dress A Mother-naked?) (2018) had won the Pluma De Paz (Jury Prize Award) in the Festival De Cine Paz Mindanao in 2017 and had been selected in Viddsee Juree Awards Philippines in 2019, the 39th Durban International Film Festival (South Africa) in 2018, and Ngilngig Film Festival (Davao) in 2018 among other film festivals.

He won various grants for his feature length Project, “Kordero!” in the Dakila Film Pitch Lab, a project by Dakila Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in 2018, during the 11th Cinema Rehiyon (Dumaguete City). This project is still under development and funding stage.

In 2020, his feature length project entitled “Sebastian!” was selected to join the first Clever Minds Writing Lab, headed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Roderick Cabrido (Children Show, 2014) and mentored respectively by Filipino award-winning filmmakers --- Cenon Palomares (Si Astri Maka Si Tambulah, 2017), Joseph Laban (Nuwebe, 2013), and Omar Sortijas (Clarita, 2019).

Presently, he is currently developing and producing new short and full-length film projects amidst working as a freelance Virtual Events Producer in Online Film Lab PH and EON Group.
