MELVER RITZ L. GOMEZ is an independent filmmaker and the founder of the Pelikula Ilokana Film Exhibition located in Ilocos Norte. He creates films that focus on the customs and traditions of the Ilokanos. He received mentorship from renowned scriptwriter Ricky Lee during his participation in Batch 24 of the Ricky Lee Film Scriptwriting Workshop. He also joined Batch 16 of the Rebelde Film Class under the tutelage of Direk J.E. Tiglao. His experimental film "Dagiti Tallo a Virgen" was chosen for the short film showcase at the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino in 2020 and was featured in the annual Cinema Rehiyon by the National Committee on Cinema of the NCCA. His documentary film "Iyallatiw" won awards at the International Film Festival in Manhattan and the Reels International Film Festival in India for Best Story Writer and Best Director. The same film was also recognized with awards at the Gawad Alternatibo (CCP) Cultural Center of the Philippines, received the Silver Prize at the Viddsee Juree Awards Luzon 2021 and Pampasadong Pelikula sa Paggamit ng Wika at Pagpapahalaga sa Kultura given by Gawad Pasado Committee last 2022. Additionally, his film "Naisangsangayan a Daga" was nominated for Best Documentary at the 46th Gawad Urian by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
