BUTCHOY UBALDO, an experienced stage actor, began his acting journey in theater back in 1985. He has portrayed various roles in classic Filipino literary works, such as: Don Tiburcio, Pilosopong Tasyo, Padre Federico, Taong Bayan and Gwardya Sibil in Noli Me Tangere; Queroga, Don Tiburcio, Macaraig, Kawani and Kalihim in El Filibusterismo; Don Pedro in Mga Awit at Komedya ng Ibong Adarna; and Aladin in Florante at Laura.

He has won several awards for his outstanding performances in independent and experimental films and plays, such as: BEST ACTOR from the CinemaTech-Student-Digital-Film-Festival for the film Kwentong Barbero, March 30, 2023; and BEST ACTOR from the CCP-National-Drama-Competition of Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio.

He is a SCHOLAR of the Film Development Council of the Philippines: 1.) Meisner Crash Course For Actors under workshop mentors Angeli Bayani, Alecx Lorica, and Norbs Portales; and 2.) “Bubog at Karga: An Introductory Acting Workshop on the Chubbuck Technique for Background Actors and Talents,” under the mentorship of Director RAHYAN CARLOS, the Head of Star Magic Workshops ABS-CBN.

He has also completed various acting workshops, such as: PETA online acting workshop under Director Phil Noble - with the assistance and guidance of Director Roi Paolo Calilong, Stand-Up Comedy workshop under Mr. Leo Martinez, ABS-CBN Basic Acting for Film And TV, Actors Workshop Foundation's Improvisation, Being and Craft workshops. He has also appeared in several tv, digital, billboard and print advertisements.

He discovered his passion for acting with UP An Balangaw Performing Arts Group, a prestigious and award-winning theatre group at the University of the Philippines, Tacloban City. He learned from the best under the guidance of founder and artistic director Professor Joycie Y. Dorado-Alegre and the direction of Professor Joey N. Lianza. He later joined Sining Pinagpala Theatre Foundation, a well-known and respected theatre company under the mentorship and direction of Anne Villegas, who shaped him into the actor he is today.

He is a versatile performer who has acted in various genres of TV shows and movies, including mainstream, indie and student productions. He also has three years of experience as a radio-drama-talent. Besides acting, he can play piano and guitar, as well as dance and sing.

He also has a strong academic background, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a major in Economics from the University of the Philippines, Tacloban City, Leyte.
