Pag-IBIG Fund

What is the Pag-IBIG Fund?

Officially the “Home Development Mutual Fund” (HDMF) but more widely known as the Pag-IBIG Fund, Pag-IBIG is a government-established program that serves as a savings and financing program for working Filipinos. Pag-IBIG is most-popularly known for the Pag-IBIG Housing Loan which provides affordable and accessible home financing for its members.

Through the popular Pag-IBIG fund, all working Filipinos including lower-income individuals, may qualify for housing loans containing the lowest interest rates available in the market. The loans provided by the Pag-IBIG fund also provide longer repayment terms of up to 30 years. In addition, the Pag-IBIG fund provides a housing-loan program made for lower-income individuals called “The Affordable Housing Loan for Minimum-Wage and Low-Income earners” distinct from the “Pag-IBIG Housing Loan.”

As a national savings program, the Pag-IBIG fund also provides other benefits apart from the home financing options. Pag-IBIG members may also access short-term loans including a “multi-purpose loan” for various purposes or a “calamity loan” that provides immediate aid to Pag-IBIG members in calamity-stricken areas.

Who Qualifies?

Under Republic Act 9679,membership to the Home Development Mutual Fund, i.e. the Pag-IBIG fund, is mandatory for all employed Filipinos, regardless of trade, business or occupation with an income or salary of at least P1,000 a month.
